PSTET : 13,977 candidates to appear for Teacher Eligibility Test


PSTET, PUNJAB STATE TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST,
As many as 13,977 candidates will appear for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) on Sunday at 31 examination centres. Last year, 17,718 candidates appeared for the test.

To conduct the exam smoothly, district education officer, secondary, Paramjit Kaur Chahal had decided to depute over 500 teachers for the examination duty. The exam will be conducted by the State Council Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

There will be seven centres in Jagraon, eight in Khanna, eight in Ludhiana east and eight in Ludhiana west.

Talking to the Hindustan Times, Chahal said, “We are conducting a meeting for the controller and superintendents for the TET exam on Thursday at NM Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar. There will be one controller, one superintendent at every examination centre and supervisors will be deputed according to the strength of the candidates at the centres.”

Meanwhile, several teachers who have applied to appear in the exam have been deputed for the examination duty.

Chahal said, “The teachers who have applied for the test did not inform us but now we will depute other teachers on duty.”

The test comprises two papers. Paper 1 is for candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1 to 5, and paper 2 is for those intending to teach for Classes 6 to 8.

Those wishing to teach all these classes can appear in both the papers. The duration of the exam will be 2.30 hours.
